Creating a SharpSpring Form

SharpSpring enables you to create a form that you can easily embed on your site without ever having to repost the code. Sharpspring can track three different types of forms- SharpSpring, Native and 3rd Party. ​The following video will show you how to create a SharpSpring form. However, if you prefer, a written step-by-step guide is available below the video for your convenience. ​

Step-by-Step Guide on how to Create a SharpSpring Form

Step 1: Click the green “New” button located in the top right corner of the app.

Step 2: Select “Form” in the drop down menu.

Step 3: Name the form.

Step 4: Select “SharpSpring Form."

Step 5: Choose how you want all the the visitors who fill out the subsequent form grouped. The choices are lead, qualified lead or contact.

Step 6: Click on the blue “Continue” button.

General Tab 

Under “Form Information” field, you can change the form name if desired.​

Step 1: Enter the “Thank You” page URL if desired. This thanks a person for filling out the form by sending them to a custom “Thank You” page. 

(Note: If the “Thank You” URL field is left blank, by default, SharpSpring will automatically display a generic “Thank You” page for anyone who fills out the form.​)

Step 2: Enter a Postback URL if you have a 3rd-party service you want Sharpspring to post the form data to.

Step 3: Choose if you want the form data to be sent to your “Thank You” page.

Step 4: In the drop down box, choose how you want the website visitors who submit information on the form grouped. You can choose "Unassigned," "Qualified Lead," "Unqualified Lead" or "Contact."

Step 5: Click on the green "Save Changes" button located in the bottom right corner of the page.

(Note: Make sure you Save Changes before navigating to the other tabs.​)

Fields Tab

Step 1: Once you have saved your changes in the "General Information" tab, click on the "Fields" tab.

Step 2: Click the green “Add a Field” button.

Step 3: Select the Fields you want in your form.

  • It's common practice to have 4-5 fields. Seven or more fields is usually too much.​

  • An email address is required for SharpSpring to be able to gather form data.​

Step 4: When you're finished, click on the green "Save Changes" button in the bottom right corner. Before clicking on the "Styles" tab.

Styles Tab 

A quick note about CSS: If you want your form to have the look and feel of your website, paste your CSS URL in the “Form CSS” field.

Step ​1: You can create a custom “Call To Action” button. You can change the size, color and text of the button.

Step 2: Click on create “New Button” and change the settings in the popup menu to fit your needs.

  • The “Advanced” tab allows you to go beyond the basic editing including, Top Gradient Colors, Bottom Gradient Colors, Hover Text Color, etc.​

  • To use the Sharpspring default button, click the “Presets” tab.​

Step 3: Click the blue “Save” button

Step 4: Enter the “Submit Button” text and click the green  “Save Changes” button.

Step 5: Copy and paste the embed code anywhere on your site where you want the button to appear. More information on creating a custom form button, can be found here.
